Judging lines:
Scenario/story and challenge/topic/theme:
-judges will apreciate the scenario/story of the project. Original scenario/story will be most apreciated. Also, the complexity and the fluency of the scenario will be a plus!
-competitors must respect the topic/challenge/theme of the contest. A good integration of the challenge in your story will be a plus!
-if Contest topic/challenge/theme is not present in the project at all, the contestant will be disqualified or he will receive a final score=1 point.
Animation:
-judges will apreciate animated sprites and backgrounds. Copyrighted sprites, backgrounds and effects could be used if the user has the license to use them (IKCC may ask for user licenses). Also, the fluency of the movements, the smooth background scrolling, etc.. will be a plus! IKCC is not responsible in any way for the use of graphics and music without legal rights (license, copyright, etc..).
-in case of illegal use of graphics and sounds, IKCC may give -2 points penalty to final score or even diqualify the project.
-sounds and thematic music will also be apreciated
Script/code:
-judges will apreciate the simplicity in coding and the well commented scripts. Also, original script and algorithms will be a plus ! Code must be well comented ! Games must have detailed instructions defined in-game.
-use of advanced techniques of coding in Scratch will be a plus (ex: variables, lists, defined blocks, advanced mathematic formulas, etc...)
Disqualification and penalties for the competitor/project :
Receiving final score=0.01 points for the project (disqualification) OR giving (-2) points penalties to the final score:
-the project was modified after the deadline or it was created/written before the first day of the competition! The project will be CREATED and WRITTEN only during the period of competition!
-the project is a fraud and it is obviously created by an adult or someone older than competitor
-the project is a remixed/copy of someone else’s project/tutorial/book/etc…
-the project contains partial-codes from someone else’s project/tutorial/book/etc…
-the project contains well known codes that are generally used in many projects on
scratch.mit.edu projects (engines, platformer codes, gravity codes, scrolling codes, etc...)
-the project participated in other IKCC competitions in the past
-invalid project link or UNSHARED project (the project could not be opened)
-the competitor declared a false age in order to participate to a lower age category
(competior could participate to higher age category, if wanted)

-inappropriate/disrespectful/illegal content of the project
-inappropriate/disrespectful behavior of the competitor or his staff/family/teacher
-failing in sustaining the project on ZOOM platform, if necessary
-if Contest topic/challenge/theme is not present in the project at all, the project will receive a final score of 1 point.
-if the type of the competition is not respected (ex: games/quizz included in animation/story/comics type competition)
-the language used in the project is not the one specified in the rules: ENGLISH
-many competitors used the same scratch.mit.edu account
Other RULES:
Tips for getting more points for your projects:
-do not copy codes or entire projects from another person and do not remix others projects (including engines for platformers, shooters, video tutorials source, projects from Scratch/coding books, etc..)!
Projects submitted must be exclusively/originaly written by the contestants, not by an adult or teacher/coach! Also, NO REMIXED project allowed (including engines for platformers, shooters, video tutorials source, projects from Scratch/coding books, etc..) ! Every single line must be creation of the contestants. The suspicion of fraud leads to the elimination of the competitor from the contest and from ikcc.info accounts!
-no old projects allowed in IKCC competitions! CREATE the project and WRITE your code from 0, starting with the first day of competition. Do not remix your old projects to avoid disqualification.
-be sure that your project is about the main topic of the contest ! A great project that do not respect very well the topic will earn less points than a good project that implements very well the contest topics. If Contest topic/challenge/theme is not present in the project at all, the contestant could be disqualified.
-use advanced code in your script... Using variables, user defined blocks, lists, etc.. will earn more points for your project
-comment each important sequence of code in order to let the judge know how you think and create the script. Code must be well comented ! Just right click in your code, where you think it is necessary to explain your script, and select Add comment ! Also, if your project incorporates a game or several mini-games, the contestant must present clear instructions for that mini-games.
-create realistic animation. Movement and backgrounds should be as realistic as you can ! For example , moving a sprite will be noted less than moving a sprite that moves his legs (using several costumes to create realistic movement)....
-insert starting menu if your project is a game..
-insert help menu to explain how to move the sprite and win points in your game...
-select good sounds and music for your project.. A project with sounds and music will be scored more than a project with no sound and music
-use good graphics for your sprites and backgrounds. It is allowed to use payed graphics (you must have the license/invoice for that graphics and copyrights to use it).
-the ideea of the project is very important for judges ! Think to an original and new ideea for your story/game in your project ! Be creative and earn more points.
-do not create very complicated games/levels, with a high degree of difficulty. The judges must easily go through ALL the levels and challenges of the project to be able to judge it. Games that are too difficult, that cannot be completed easily, will be penalized because they prevent the referees from completing the entire project.
-do not create 2 player type projects ! 2 player projects will be disqualified or will receive penalties. Also do not create script that used laptop camera, touchscreens , GPS , gravitational sensor or other external requirements. Projects must work correct on a desktop PC.
-in coding, speed is not good... you have enough time untill deadline data to submit your project. Check again and again your code, improve it, work on details.. and when finioshed submit the link to tour project. Don't rush just to submit quickly your project ! It is not important who submitted first the project.. it is important which project is the best !
-IKCC contests are INDIVIDUAL, no TEAMS allowed.
-In case of equal score for 1-3 places and special diplomas, organizer will give tie points for general impression of the projects in order to find out the winners.
-the project must be created in Scratch programming language only (free software). Projects must be developed online (you must create an Scratch account on https://scratch.mit.edu). Projects created using the Scratch offline editor, when finished, must be upload to an existing Scratch account on https://scratch.mit.edu. Projects are accepted only if they are accessible on Scratch website (https://scratch.mit.edu). Please be sure to share the project before submitting it!
-if your project incorporates music, sounds, fonts or images/videos, you must own the rights to use that material. IKCC is not responsible in any way for the use of graphics and music without legal rights (license, copyright, etc..).
-do not insert political themes or real characters from the political world into your projects. We do not encourage political disputes through the projects in the competition. Scenarios based on politics can be de-pointed or even disqualified.
-do not insert violent scenarios in which the "destroyed"/"killed" characters are real characters from the current world (political or social). Do not insert violent scenarios in which children/kids use heavy military weapons (machine guns, grenades, atomic bombs, etc...) with which they "kill" characters in the game. We do not encourage armed or other violence among our children. If the theme is one of war, adult, stylized, animated characters will be used, with no political correspondent of any kind. In the case of shooter-type codes, animations will be used for both characters and ships/armored vehicles/etc... not images with real weapons. If these rules are not respected, the projects may be de-pointed or even disqualified.
-the organizer rezerve the right to disqualify any project that contained inappropriate content or non copyrighted content
-if needed, the organizers could ask the selected competitors to sustain their projects online, on ZOOM platform. If the student failed in sustaining the project he will be disqualified.
-participants must respect the deadline of registration and project submission. Any delay on submitting projects will disqualify the participant. Please review the Agenda info for each contest on the official website ikcc.info!
-projects for International contests are accepted only in english .
-for ANIMATION ONLY contests, the lenght of the animation must be max. 5 min.
-for ANIMATION ONLY contests, do not include any game inside !
-for GAME SCRIPT contests, your project must be a game-type one. You can use small narative story / animation scripts if the main script remains the GAME SCRIPT. Respect the theme and the scenario!
-after the deadline date for submitting the projects, the contestant could not make any change to the project. Please note that the last update time is mentioned if we acces adress https://api.scratch.mit.edu/projects/project_ID/ . To avoid the risk of beeing disqualified, participants are NOT ALLOWED to browse the project with EDIT mode after the submission deadline date.
